Christmas 2012

We are very fortunate in that when it rains in the evening, a rainbow forms out our front window.  The other day we were showing Derek the rainbow and he said “OOOOH, I want to live there.”  Yes, it would be grand to live in a rainbow, but we have promises from GOD of a place much grander then a rainbow.  The greatest hope we have is the gift of Salvation in Jesus Christ, The Son of GOD.  For this we give thanks and call upon His name and proclaim His deeds among all the people.   We sing and rejoice and talk of all his wondrous works.

I Thessalonians 5:18 says “in all things give thanks;” and Paul says in Philippians 4:11“...in whatever state I am, to be content.”  As we look back on this year and our lives we have much to be thankful for.  Though we have had many ups and downs, changes and struggles we continue to be content and thankful.  We have been given so much through Christ, how can we not but share this great gift.

We wish you all the greatest blessing this Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

This year we have so much to be thankful for:

We are thankful for the children in the Kids Club.

We are thankful for the many opportunities to share His message.

We are thankful for our families, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.

We are thankful for the many people who pray for us and support us.

We are thankful for the difficult times and struggles which teach us to depend more upon HIM.

We are thankful for His Word which encourages us and strengthens us.

We are thankful for what the LORD has given us today.

And we are thankful for you.

Prayer requests for the Kids Club and the Church Horeb:

¨ The children will come to know the LORD as their Savior and grow in their relationship with HIM.

¨ Those who have come occasionally will attend regularly.

¨ Our Christmas Party December 15th.

¨ The parents will have open hearts and the LORD will give us opportunities to share with them.

¨ We can build good relationships with those who live near the church.

¨ The health of several member of the church.

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

This year our ministry for will be focused on working with the Baptist Church Horeb.  Last year we initiated a Kids Club here and we are continuing this ministry with plans to do more outreach and evangelism.  I am also teaching the members the class ‘How to teach Firm Foundations’.

This church was planted about 30 years ago, but has had many difficult struggles over the years.  There are currently only 7 members, who attend, plus Teo and me.  They are a faithful few, who desire to see the LORD’s work be done in this area.  Though there are only 7 members they can have as many as 20 children in Sunday school and church service; which includes a light lunch for the children.

In addition to working with Horeb, I will be teaching one other class of ‘How to teach Firm Foundations’ and a Small Group in our home.  We also have 5 students in our TEE program and will be using the SOL correspondence courses for evangelism and discipleship of new believers.  Teo will be using the course Love, Dating and Marriage to Disciple our nieces and some of their friends.

These ministries will keep us pretty busy.  One problem I have is not saying ‘no’ to teaching opportunities.  It is easy to get overwhelmed and this affects the ministry and Teo and Derek.  Managing time with the LORD, ministry and family time is important.

Page Two: about last summers.

As you read in our last prayer letter, we had plans to establish an office, attend UIM Mexico Missions Conference and add onto our house, but the doctors informed me that I needed and operation and the sooner the better.  So on the advice of our doctors our trip was canceled and on August 18^th I had the internal saphenous vein removed from my right leg.  I have mostly recuperated from the surgery, but need to take precautions, like no prolonged sitting, no salt, more exercise and elastic socks.  With the surgery, problems with the insurance, problems with our bank and problems with our e-mail server, it made for a turbulent, complicated and frustrating month of August.  So accept for the office, which still needs a bit of work, not many of our plans were accomplished.

Finances

For the year of 2012, we have been praying for 25 new financial supporters.  So far this year we have received gifts from 10 new supporters.  Please pray for an additional 15 new financial supporters before the end of the year.  We are currently at an average 59% of our Recommend Monthly Budget.

Dear Praying Friends and Family

Well our year is wrapping up and things went fairly well.  We’ve completed teaching 9 students in ‘How to teach Firm Foundations’ or chronologically.  Most of these are teaching others as you have read in past letters. 

Please keep these students in your prayers and the people they are teaching.  GOD’s word is going out to many people through these students and that is the greatest blessing.

Our last class for Kids Club

Our Kids Club with the church Horeb has also finished for the year.  We started in March with one child and in our last meeting we had 15 children. In total we had 30 children come to at least one meeting, but we generally averaged between 6-10 children each week.  We are doing some more planning and organizing and hope to have a more consistent attendance when we start again September 8th. 

Please keep these children and this church in your prayers.  There are only 7 adult members and it is in an area of great need.  We are planning more evangelical outreaches with this church.

So what is new and coming in our lives and ministry?

Office of Insituto de Discipulado

Coming is July, an office.  It needs a bit of cleaning, furniture, supplies and materials, but being rent free and in our target area it is a great deal. 

Please pray that I can get the office completely organized and setup in July.

August is a month of travel.  We will travel to the LA area to visit friends and family, and then fly to Guadalajara Mexico for the UIM Mexico Field Conference.  On our return we will visit UIM Headquarters near Phoenix AZ and more family and friends.

In this letter I thought I would share some of what my students are doing.  I asked them to write about how they are using the class and how this has affected their lives.  You are very much a part of this ministry these testimonies are for you also.  My students appreciate your prayers for themselves and their students.

                                    

Teo, Derek and I are all doing well.  We greatly appreciate your prayers and pray you are well and always encouraged in the LORD.

Hello beloved Bother Glenn,

           

These lines I now write to make known that the LORD God is using you in a very special way in my life.
I thank the LORD God for you, because he entrusted to you the ministry.  I am witness that you do very well and also know that the LORD God will give you your reward in this life, but also in the coming because that is his promise and it is no lie. I want you to know since what I'm studying in Firm Foundations, the LORD God revealed many lessons to me and purpose for my life.  Now we are studying in my house in a "small group Bible Study" I am teaching the same material and not only attendees are enriched
in the knowledge of our LORD Jesus Christ, but myself also. I am still learning to review each lesson and the LORD has confirmed me as a good disciple, able to teach others also.
I give thanks to God for your life and your ministry in education. I will be praying for you for the LORD God to continue to bless you, taking care and enabling you in this work, and caring for your family that you can also quietly dedicate confidently to his service.

Estoy muy agradecida con El Señor porque es fiel y sus promesas verdaderas, agradezco a mi Dios porque le envió a ud y nos está dando el curso de fundamentos firmes, ya le había comentado que gracias a ello mi hermana.  Gina y mi sobrino Fernando están conociendo a Dios, las dos primeras lecciones se veían un poco tiesos, pero a medida que avanzamos en el conocimiento de su palabra los noto cada día más interesados en ellas, bendito sea su nombre para siempre!..Pero el día de hoy le tengo una noticia maravillosa hermano mi esposo que es ateo acepto recibir las clases!!!! Y el día de ayer domingo de resurrección recibió la primera!!! ALELUYA! no sabe ud lo emocionada que me encuentro y pido a Dios que me dé sabiduría para hacerlo como El desea, todo esto no seria posible sin su valiosa ayuda hermano Dios le bendiga grandemente.Cristo vive hermano!!! Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Last night, I taught on Geneses 3:21 “Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin and clothed them.”  This is a short verse, but it is full of the knowledge of GOD.  Here we seen our attempts to clothe ourselves are insufficient and it is GOD who will clothe us perfectly.  We see GOD’s love for His special creation, His Mercy in withholding a just punishment and His Grace in giving an undeserved gift.  But also we see how GOD starts to reveal to us His Plan for our salvation, a substitutionary sacrifice to clothe Adam and his wife.  His Plan is now fully revealed in the sacrifice of HIS Son, Jesus Christ; that we may experience His love for us through His Grace and Mercy and it is He Who will clothe us perfectly with His Righteousness.

I give praises to the LORD for all that He has done to make this ministry possible.  He has prepared the way and opened many doors.  I am currently teaching teachers four times a week.  Some of whom are already teaching others; like my sister-in-law who is teaching her two sisters; two ladies who teach Sunday school, two who are teaching in small groups and two pastors.  Because of you this ministry is multiplying.

Please pray for the preparation of these teachers, that the Word of God may go forth through them and the hearts of their students will willingly receive the Word.

We are also enjoying our ministry with the children at the Casa Hogar.  The children often express how they are enjoying the lessons and our time with them.  For us it is also a lesson in how hard a life can be, but also a joy.  For those who have nothing, their hope in the LORD becomes very precious.

Please pray for the children that their hope in the LORD will continue to grow and the LORD will guard and protect them.

Starting the end of February we will be helping with a children’s outreach ministry in the Baptist Church Horeb.  This is a small struggling church with a few faithful members; it is also in a poorer area of the city.  This ministry could have a great impact in the area as there are many spiritual needs.

Please pray that the LORD will start preparing the hearts of the children and that they will come ready to receive the Word of GOD.

We are greatly encouraged by all your prayers and gifts.  We could not be here without you.  A special prayer request is for our finances.  For the year of 2011 we receive about 60% of our recommended level of support.  For the year of 2012 we are praying for 25 new financial supporters so we can continue to minister effectively.

Please pray that our Financial Support will increase.

We pray that the LORD will bless you this year and you will be able to share the love that GOD has given to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
