Christmas 2011

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

These past two months I have been studying Isaiah and have greatly enjoyed discovering now things and growing in my understanding of who GOD is and just how great our GOD is.  We often talk of how awesome GOD is, but the word awesome is far insufficient to really describe our GOD.  Our GOD has redeemed us and given us an eternal hope that surpasses anything this world could possible offer.  It is with HIS Great Love that HE has Saved us and there is no other GOD besides HIM.

This past Saturday we had a fun day with the children at the Casa Hogar Jeruel.  It was a great time.  The youth from Binimea came, spent time with them, did activities and prepared a meal.  It was nice to spend extra time with the children and build some relationships.  I was able to help Raul with some homework; he is in fifth grade and was working on multiplication, but he struggles with addition.  For me it was a stark realization of how great the needs are with so many children.

Our ministry here is to encourage, equip and raise up laborers, Please pray that the LORD will go before us preparing the hearts of people to be laborers in the fields.

In the equipping area of our ministry, I am teaching one class of ‘Teaching Teachers’ to about 10 people; in January, I will be starting a second class.   The hope is that these people will be able to go out and teach in small groups and kid club effectively and accurately the Word of GOD.

Please pray that I can teach well and the students will grow in their understanding of GOD’s Word, in their relationship with the LORD and they will be effective teachers of the Word of GOD.

One of our desires for ministry is to aid in the discipleship and evangelism of those who desire to study GOD’s Word but do not have access to materials.  This coming year our plans are to pursue establishing a Correspondence and Guided Independent Study Bible Institute.

Please pray that we can make the needed contacts and obtain the resources for establishing this Bible Institute.  A praise is that we can already see the LORD preparing the way.

We pray that you have a very Merry Christmas and that you will enjoy the Blessings of the LORD throughout this coming New Year.

With the Love of Christ

November 23, 2011

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Well we have been back in Chihuahua for two months now and the time has gone by quickly.  My class that I have entitled IITim2:2 is going well.  The first class we had about 20 people, but we have averaged between 10-15 people each week from 4 different churches.  It is very encouraging to see so many people seeking to teach GOD’s Word and reach out to others.

Please pray that I can be well prepared for each class and the students will grow in their abilities to teach.

Our classes at the Casa Hogar Jeruel are going well the children continue to enjoy the studies.  Teo and I try to keep the lessons interesting to keep their interest.  A sister from our church goes with us each Tuesday; she is a great blessing and help.  Saturday November 26 a group from the high school will be coming to prepare a meal and spend time with the children.  It should be a great day.  We also hope to plan an event closer to Christmas.

Please pray for the children and their growing relationship with the LORD.

On a personal note; this past Tuesday my dad’s wife past away.  Please pray for my dad and his wife’s family as this is a very difficult and sad time for them.

Derek is doing well, but he has had two bouts of Diarrhea this past month.  Please pray that his little system will get better regulated.  He continues to have lots of energy and continues to learn many new words.  His newest word is bubbles.

December 3rd, Teo’s sister is getting married.  It is turning into a big event, like most wedding here.

There is much more I could write, but I try to keep these short.  We thank you greatly for all your prayers and support.  We pray you are well and always encouraged in the LORD.  To encourage you, I have put a Bible passage at the end of this letter.  I read this, this morning in my devotional/study of Isaiah.  It is such a great blessing to know that all things come to us from the LORD and all things are a blessing as we seek and wait for HIM.

Isaiah 30:18-21a

18 Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him.
19  For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, He will answer you.
20  And though the Lord gives you The bread of adversity and the water of affliction, Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers.
21  Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it,"

October 17, 2011

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

This morning in my devotions I read Isaiah 61:1-3.  It is such a great blessing and reminder to us that we can proclaim the goodness of GOD and HIS Salvation to the poor and to those who mourn.  It is not that we have any hope in this earthly world, but that we have hope in a great GOD who has blessed us with eternal and heavenly blessings.  This is our hope and the good news we proclaim, that Jesus Christ is our Savior, the Son of GOD and He has risen from the grave.  When we have this, what more could we desire.

These past few weeks have gone by rather quickly. We have mostly settled into our home and have stayed busy with many visits and visitors.  Teo’s family is very glad we are back and we have had a great reunion with friends and family.

· Praises for our safe return to Chihuahua, Mexico.

We have also started making plans for our ministry.  We visited the children at the Casa Hogar Jerual and they were very happy to see us.  They are anxious for us to start teaching again, so on October 18th, we will begin our studies.  We will start with a review of the Old Testament, then teach the Life of Christ.  We will be going there Tuesday mornings from 9:00-12:00.

· Please pray that the LORD will work in the lives of these children.

I have visited five pastors this past week and they are interested in our ministry.  The next two or three weeks we will be talking more and having meetings to plan our ministry with each of the churches.  We will most likely focus more on three of these churches and do occasional things with the other two.

· Please pray that as we plan with these pastors we can work together and the LORD will lead us into a growing relationship.

Some highlights from the past month or two

The UIM Staff Conference was a great blessing and allowed us to meet most of the UIM missionaries and get a lot of information regarding UIM.
We had a great trip to eastern Tennessee, visiting friends, family and churches.
Teo now has her Permanent Residency card.
Derek is saying words in both English and Spanish.
Glenn turned 50.

We greatly appreciate all your prayers for the ministry.  There are many great needs here and it is easy to get over whelmed and try to do to much,  Please pray that we will stay focused on the ministry that the LORD has given us.  It is often difficult to say no when people ask for help, but there is only so much we can do

We continue to be blessed with the prayers and support of many friends and family.  We pray you are well and always encouraged in the LORD.

With the LOVE of Christ

July 2011

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Well the time has finally arrived for us to be heading back to Mexico.

¨ Please pray as we complete plans and pack for our trip and return to Mexico.

This past week we received a letter from immigration saying Teo has to appear for an Immigration Interview on August 18th in Portland, Oregon.  So after the UIM Staff Conference we will fly to Portland for the interview then continue our trip.

¨ Please pray that things will go well with the interview and Teo will receive her Permanent Residency.

While in Baker City, Teo has made a special friend that she visited almost weekly.  Teo spent many hours building a relationship with her and has been able to share the gospel with her on many occasion.  She has also watched the Jesus film twice with her children and husband.

¨ Please pray that the seeds that Teo has planted will continue to grow and she and her family will come to know the LORD as their Savior.

Thank you for your prayers for Manuel, Teo’s brother.  The situation is improving and we continue to pray that the LORD will continue to work in his life and work restoration with his family.

¨ Please pray for forgiveness, restoration and Salvation for Manuel and his family.

Praise also for Teo’s knee.  Last week we were able to walk around a small lake in the mountains as a family.  This is something Teo would never have been able to do before the operation.  We are grateful to the LORD for His provide so this could be done.

¨ Please pray that Teo’s knee will continue to be strengthened.
We praise GOD for all he has done for us over this year.  We encountered many difficult situations and changes of plans and events, but the LORD showed Himself faithful through all things and now we are ready to go home.  It will be sad to say goodbye to many friends, but a joy to remember that the LORD has promised us far better things in times to come.
Psalm 40:7-10
7  Then I said, "Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me.
8  I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart."
9  I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness In the great assembly;
Indeed, I do not restrain my lips, O LORD, You Yourself know.
10  I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;
I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;
I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and
Your truth From the great assembly.

Our Prayer for you is that you also will have this great delight for GOD’s will and be able to proclaim all the goodness of GOD to all you meet in this day and the days to come.

Thank you for all your prayers, support and encouragement.  We could not do this ministry without you and you are greatly appreciated.

With the LOVE of CHRIST

May 25, 2011

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

One of the most frustrating things I have ever done is work through the immigration process for Teo.  Over a year ago we received incorrect information from the US Consulate in Juarez, which caused me to make an incorrect decision.  So Teo’s immigration has taken over a year longer then what it should have taken and based on the information we have just receive it is questionable as to whether or not Teo will be granted residency.  This is very frustrating for me and I would appreciate your prayers for me and that we can complete the final paper work and Teo will be granted permanent residency before we leave Baker City the end of July for our trip back east and our return to Mexico the end of September.

One of our greatest hopes is that our immigration into eternity is not so complicated or questionable.  We have the assurances and promises of GOD that we are forever HIS Children.  I have always received great comfort from Jesus’ prayer for us.  I hope that as you read through this, that what every struggle you have today you will know that it is Christ who is praying for you and know that this day will pass, but our eternity with Christ is as sure as HIS Promises to us.

John 17:20-26

20 ¶  "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;
21  "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22  "And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
23  "I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 ¶  "Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
25  "O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.
26  "And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."

On a brighter note, Derek is one of the greatest blessings in our lives and he brings us great joy each day.  Here are some photos from Derek’s first birthday party.

Teo has made friends with a Mexican lady here and she has had many opportunities to share with her.  Both her and her husband seem very open to the Gospel and have expressed interest in seeing the Jesus movie.  Please pray that we can make arrangements to have dinner and share this movie with them.

Please keep our return to Mexico in your prayers.  We will be in Baker City Oregon for two more months then travel to Nebraska, Wisconsin and Tennessee, before returning to Mexico the end of September.  I am still make plans for this trip back east and to Mexico; please pray that all the arrangements can come together and be in place soon.
